The people of Florida and Michigan are getting what they deserve from the whole debacle going on about Democratic delegates being seated from those states at the upcoming Democratic National Convention. Being a believer in democracy and everyone having their say and that kind of stuff, why would I even think such a thing?

Well, in addition to incompetent decision making by DNC leaders like Howard Dean (stupid! stupid! stupid!) and the Michigan and Florida Secretary of State’s offices, this problem really comes down to generations of laziness and civic detachment by American citizens. Yup, it’s really a problem of citizens not watching what their government was doing and keeping government officials honest. With the way Florida has shown they were able to smoothly run an election in 2000, you can tell why I’m blaming Florida. Having lived in Michigan for thirteen years, I’ve also found it’s pretty easy to blame them too.

You see, things like voting are basic functions of governments to keep government going. I know that sounds funny coming from an anarchist, but I mean that’s the purpose of government — to keep itself going. If it expands its power by trampling individual’s rights, so much the better from the government’s perspective, but I digress. Instead of government declaring it’s independence from political parties (and corporations and special interest lobbying groups and other shadowy entities that may really be pulling the strings in this country), politicians take their marching orders from party mob bosses.  Anyway, that’s what happens when politicians listen to their own self interests and fail to be checked by the people.
